description This course provides an introduction to the critical studies of digital media. Students will learn how to anaylze and write about the cultural, social, philosophical, political, and some of the technical aspects of digital media. We will cover a broad range of topics, including hypertext, networked communication, social computing, gaming, digital access, intellectual property, and multimedia production. Using the critical tools of media studies, computer science, sociology, and anthropology, we will examine how social and cultural forces shape and are shaped by digital media.
