requirements: 

general issues: 

Every week there will be a reading assignment and a design or analysis exercise. In general, we will review student work every week in class. You will be asked to discuss the readings and to present your work in class. At the end of the term there will be a final review in which a group of scholars and artists will be invited to critique your work. You will be required to attend and present your work at the final review.

policy: 

Attendance is manditory.  Three or more absences will result in a grade of no pass.  

All assignments must be completed on time.  Late submission of completed assignments will receive no credit.  We will discuss student work on the assignments at each class meeting.  To be fair to those who have submitted their work on time, it will not be possible to give credit for work that is late.  

grading: 

  • weekly design & analysis exercises: 70% (there will be 9 such assignments each worth a little less than 8% of your final grade)
  • final review: 10% (you will be asked to develop a web- and oral- presentation of the term's work for outside reviewers. to receive full credit you will need to attend and present at the final review.)
  • class participation: 20% (to receive full credit for class participation you will need to be present to present your work when called upon and to contribute at least one comment, question, or observation to the discussion every class meeting)
